Sunday Sundown Returns to Coogee Rooftop

Sunday Sundown, Merivale’s annual live music series presented by Summer Bright Lager, will return to Coogee Rooftop this summer. Launching 3 December, Sunday Sundown will see four leading Australian artists – Miami Horror, Linda MariglianoSwick and a soon-to-be-announced duo – set up residency at the beachside oasis over thirteen epic afternoon sessions.

Melbourne-bred quartet Miami Horror (DJ Set) officially kick off Sunday Sundown, bringing their breezy Indie electronic to Coogee’s shoreline every Sunday in December. Miami Horror first launched as a solo outfit by Benjamin Plant in 2007, before transforming into a visionary four piece with the release of EP, The Shapes, earlier this year. Their sound is percussive and colourful, taking influence from 70s post-punk as well as the hypnotic bounce of world-beat pop artists of the 80s – making it the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon in the Sydney sun.

Sunday Sundown continues into January with DJ/presenter Linda Marigliano teaming up with one of Australia’s finest beat makers, SWICK. Freshly crowned host of Triple J’s new national music release programme ‘Good Nights’, Marigliano has earned an impressive reputation as one of Australia’s best party-starters, hitting Coogee Rooftop fresh from three years touring UK and Europe. As a well-respected authority on new music and emerging artists, it was also no surprise that she chose SWICK, the young gun producer making serious waves worldwide, to join her at Sunday Sundown. Described as Melbourne’s “own well shaken can of bubbly fizzy drink”, SWICK will bring his tight drums, energetic synths and catchy vocal chops to the music series, armed with an arsenal of tracks including his latest single ‘Slopes’ featuring Tkay Maidza.

February will see a soon-to-be-announced good-times charged duo take over, making sure Sydney sees out Summer with a bang. Stay tuned for further details.

Sunday Sundown first launched in 2016, with a vision to bring music back to the forefront of Sydney’s enviable summer and provide an exciting platform to showcase great local talent.

Entry to Sunday Sundown sessions at Coogee Rooftop is free.
