This October, Carolyn Hartz of SweetLife will launch her long-awaited baking book: Sugar Free Baking – a collection of 60 healthy sugar free and gluten free recipes which prove that giving up sugar does not mean giving up the sweet treats in life.
Unlike other ‘sugar free’ baking books, none of the recipes featured in Sugar Free Baking use any hidden or everyday sugars and each of them use 100% natural ingredients, meaning that Carolyn’s recipes can be enjoyed guilt-free.
“We all know that we should decrease our sugar intake, but the assumption is that if you give up sugar, you are giving up desserts and treats – this is just not the case!” says Carolyn. “Not only are my recipes free of white sugar but each recipe has absolutely no hidden sugars such as honey, agave, coconut sugar, fruit juice concentrate or rice malt syrup either. This means you truly can have your cake and eat it too,” Carolyn says.
More than a simple baking book, Sugar Free Baking is also a remarkable resource for those seeking the how and why of sugar-free baking. Carolyn introduces the importance of ‘Why Sugar Free’ and how removing sugar will improve your health. She also explores the addictive nature of sugar, discusses Xylitol and its health benefits, and explains how to identify hidden sugars in the foods we consume.
This 78-page comprehensive book is a personal journey with Australia’s first sugar free pioneer, Carolyn Hartz. Carolyn began her sugar and gluten free journey 28 years ago when she was diagnosed with pre-diabetes and gluten intolerance. The 68-year-old found the answer to the natural sugar free sweetener she’d been looking for – Xylitol – a 100% all-natural sugar free sweetener that is derived from birch trees, the husks of corn cobs and found in many fruits and vegetables that we can eat on a daily basis.
She started her own company, Sweetlife, in 2002, growing her business as her message resonated with people who needed to cut back on their sugar intake.
Sugar Free Baking is priced at $29.95 and stockists will be listed on
as of October 2015.
