Primus Hotel Sydney’s Art Deco Glamour Gets A Revival

Primus Hotel Sydney is one of Australia’s most exquisite examples of Art Deco architecture and interior design. With 172 guest rooms and suites, soaring lobby space, rooftop pool and bar, adjoining restaurant, Mezzanine floor dedicated to conferencing and events, and a Presidential Suite fit for the highest of dignitaries, Primus Hotel Sydney is one of the city’s most exciting and prestigious accommodation offerings to open this year.

The down-town opening marks the completion of a heritage-sensitive refit of the original building at 339 Pitt Street; formerly The Sydney Water Board headquarters.  General Manager of Primus Hotel Sydney, Daniel Muhor remarks;

“For two years, handpicked master craftsmen from around the world meticulously restored the former Sydney Water Head Office’s elaborate and intricate finishes to their original glory. With a balanced blend of tradition and contemporary touches; Primus Hotel Sydney is now a timeless haven of international five star standards and seamless personal service. It is perfectly positioned for those who want to be immersed in the city’s CBD; moments away from Town Hall, Hyde Park, Pitt Street Mall and emerging Koreatown.“

On entering, guests are met with a commanding lobby and are immediately transported to an era of 1930’s glamour, with towering ceilings, white marble floor and rare eight metre high red, scagliola columns. The lobby forms a central sanctum for the hotel with bustling reception and concierge, cocktail bar and a grand seating area with plush velvet sofas and leather armchairs. Much like the grandest of European hotels, it is the perfect spot for business meetings and cocktail catch ups.
