I was invited recently to cross Sydney harbour and head to Manly to try out Italian Haven Criniti’s Pizza making class. Despite being in the midst of a new Fitness regime I decided to take up the offer, but took reinforcements with me my two co-hosts from “Trending Eagle” Dan Courtnall and Chris MacKenzie.
The class was arranged in a half a circle with ingredients on individual tables, and everyone looked like they were ready to perfect their dough making skills. I was ready for some fun and most of all to take away some skills I could use to impress people with hahah.
So much fun was had as we were taken through the process of making pizza dough with the head Criniti’s head Pizza Chef , learning to know recognise when the dough was ready to be put aside to rise and picking up great tips like adding the salt at the end so it doesn’t affect the yeast and the rise in the dough.
Once we had rolled out our dough with a bit of help from flipping it in the air, it was time to pick our toppings with so much on offer a few people went a little crazy with pizza’s laden with every considerable topping. I took inspiration from the classic Italian pizza’s and went with a base of tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella, prosciutto and rest basil. There was something extremely rewarding watching the pizza you had made yourself slide into the hot wood fired oven, and finally after a small wait come out of the oven ready to be consumed.
This would make a great date fun, food and wine all whilst learning some great pizza making skills, so don’t wait book yourself into a Criniti’s Pizza making class now…
