Helm Bar’s Brand New French Riviera Inspired Look

I was recently invited to pop in and check out the newly renovated Helm Bar in Darling Harbour, and what a beautiful transformation it has undergone into a chic French Riviera inspired venue.

The new Helm takes the sophistication and décor of the Riviera, mixes it with its renowned party vibe and comes up with a dockside cocktail of fun, fine food and wine in a breath-taking harbourside setting.

Award winning interior designer, Luchetti Krelle, brings to life coastal chic with long wooden tables, white and teak furnishings, and flashes of bright blue, reflecting the sparkling harbour.

Helm Bar has long been the stop-off bridge linking the corporate city centre and the entertainment complex that is Darling Harbour. Now with its yacht club vibe and elegant simplicity Helm Bar is ‘the place’ for after work down time, a lazy harbourside lunch or corporate function with a view.

Owner Peter Wadsworth believes Darling Harbour is a unique combination of the vibrant metropolitan city and relaxed waterfront charm.

“With a world-class harbour on the Sydney’s doorstep, we were inspired to recreate the fun, frivolity and leisure of the yacht clubs of the Med, in our Harbour City,” he said.

Not only satisfied with new stylish décor, Helm Bar is launching a new menu with a fresh seafood fare at its core. The ‘Sharing stand for two w/ sliced house smoked salmon, tiger prawns, mussels and fish of the day’ joins the ‘Seared house smoked salmon nicoise salad’ perfect for a light lunch.

Paired with the best of international and local wines, with an impressive selection by the glass, there’s plenty to rehydrate and satisfy after a long day. Crafts, classic beer and a variety of signature cocktails also cater for those from all walks of life.

The new understated ‘yachties’ look and upscaled menu opens the door for Helm’s “upper deck” to be the ‘it’ place for harbourside functions. The versatile floor space can be set for intimate long lunches or large 300 plus groups. Take your pick.

If a stylish, Riviera-inspired refurb, coupled with great food and wine on a stunning Harbourside deck isn’t enough to tempt you keep an eye out for the Helm’s summer celebration events including wine-themed dinners, bottomless afternoon bubbles and roaming oyster shuckers.
