Hardys Tintara Geology from the Ancient Soils of the McLaren Vale

The McLaren Vale region is famous for being one of the most geographically diverse wine regions in the world. In recognition of this, Hardys has produced the Tintara Geology range – the result of drawing on the soils of the McLaren Vale to craft a Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc that befits such a region.


From an altitude of 50-200 metres, Hardys vineyards are planted on an array of soils including fertile red brown earths, terra rossa, Rendzina, soft sands and dark cracking clays. Some of these soils are as old as 600 million years.

Hardys’ winemakers have sourced grapes for the Hardys Tintara Geology range across multiple sites which allows them to blend wines with complexity, concentration and character, and that have a broad palette of flavours which reflect this unique maritime climate and geology.

Hardys Tintara Geology Shiraz 2014 (RRP $XX)

Displays the renowned McLaren Vale characters of lifted black cherry and plum with hints of chocolate, and combines with spicy oak notes and a generous mouth feel. Soft and subtle tannins provide length and structure to this balanced and generous wine. Deep garnet with purple hues. Has aromas of blackberries, plum, black cherries and dark chocolate supported by hints of liquorice and vanillin.

Hardys Tintara Geology Cabernet Sauvignon (RRP $XX)

A richly flavoured McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon Blanc from the 2015 vintage which displays the classic flavours of plum, mulberry and chocolate coupled with the influence of bay leaf and red fruits. A bright red wine with a crimson edge. Dark ripe berry fruit flood the palate and are supported by sweet flesh plum flavours with hints of black olive. Fine tannins support the fruit, and cedar oak influence provides the wine with mouthfeel and length.
