Welcome to the first of our Fave Food Friday posts, and its a goodie and one that will get your mouth watering. I’m talking about the Amazing “Reuben & Moore” who have taken the humble sandwich to whole new level…
Celebrity chef Michael Moore is thrilled to be expanding his Reuben & Moore brand to Sydney’s Northern suburbs, opening its second store at the Macquarie Centre in North Ryde and Reuben & Moore’s philosophies are simple and exactly what keeps this ‘New York deli’ inspired sandwich bar a cut above the rest.
Firstly, Reuben & Moore’s sandwiches are ‘crafted’ by chefs using farm-to-table produce, market-fresh ingredients and house-made fillings, all served on artisan bread, which is baked and delivered daily.
With a focus on quality, Reuben & Moore offers diners an extensive menu with something for everyone. Choose from a wide variety of hot roast sandwiches & rolls, burgers, sliders and roast plates or enjoy a steak from the grill menu.
As the name suggests, the Reuben takes centre-stage amongst other classics. The art of making the Reuben has been brought to a whole new level – fusing a classic, simple recipe with a modern approach.
Combining Blackmore’s wagyu salt beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, pickles, house-made secret sauce and freshly baked, warm and crusty rye bread, it’s no surprise that owner, Michael Moore, notes that over 60% of sandwich sales are Reuben orders.
As the legend goes: The invention of the Reuben is hotly contested with various claims on this cult sandwich. Whatever its origins, this meat laden sandwich has become the stuff of legend and the principle ingredients have remained the same for almost 100 years!
…and it’s alive and kicking at Reuben & Moore, in the newly refurbished Macquarie Centre.
I headed out to the new Rueben & Moore store at The Macquarie Centre and took a couple of friends Nic & Lachlan along with me as I’d being warned, I’d need help getting through the huge servings of food and I’m glad I did. We started thanks to help from their amazing Head Chef Brett Luckens with the Signature Reuben Sandwhich – Wagyu Salt Beef, Swiss Cheese, Sauerkraut, Pickles & Mustard on Rye, I can see how it won best Rueben it is a mouthful of balanced flavours.
We then moved on to Cuban Toasted Sandwhich – Hot Roasted Pork Shoulder, Pickles, Shaved Glazed Ham, Swiss Cheese, Reuben Mustard Served on White , now this one might have being the favourite in terms of the unusual flavour combinations the salty with the sweet from the pickles and the tart swiss cheese.
Our final pick was the Reuben Wagyu Cheese Burger – Wagyu Beef Burger, Swiss Cheese, Pastrami, Lettuce & Chipolte, it was absolutely juicy and packed with flavour and damn it would keep you full for the rest of the day.
The menu has something for everyone, you can even get breakfast I hear the Grilled Haloumi on Toast is a definite winner, and if you’re game you have to try their special Graffiti Fries house made cheese sauce with a special BBQ sauce over juicy crunchy fries.
What can I say it’s sandwiches on steroids made with skill and love, packed full of flavour and tastes that’ll keep you coming back for more.
I give it 4 Rogue Wheels out of 5 and it is worth every one of them, but as I always say don’t take my word for it try it for yourself…
