Chopard watches were founded in 1860 by a young man at the age of 24 by the name of Louis-Ulysse Chopard. Early on Chopard watches earned a reputation for excellence and quality. Unlike many other watch manufacturers, Chopard watches were not produced in huge numbers which meant they were limited and quite sought after. Chopard realised early on that although Switzerland was the home of watch manufacture, and his premises was based here, the real market for his watches was outside Switzerland in other European countries and places like Russia.
Through a changing world Chopard has gone the distance, and this is because of their Quality, Precision and Innovation in Design. Chopard is now involved with many prestigious events where it supplies fine jewellery and watches to a range of famous celebrities and personalities, a recent example being the OSCARS.
Academy Awards Winner for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Cate Blanchett looked stunning on the red carpet wearing a pair of opal drop earrings, featuring 62 white opals (33 carats) set in white diamond pave and 18-carat white gold – a first preview of Chopard’s 2014 Red Carpet Collection. She also selected a brown diamond bracelet (49 carats) set in 18-carat white gold, and a toi et moi pear-shape diamond ring (4 carats) set in 18-carat white gold.
Academy Awards Winner for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Matthew McConaughey selected Chopard’s L.U.C XP Tonneau timepiece crafted in 18-carat white gold, featuring a white dial and black leather strap. He also wore a pair of onyx cufflinks, set in 18-carat white gold featuring white diamond pave.
