Whiskey lovers rejoice it’s World Whisky Day tomorrow Saturday the 21st of May, so we have a few Whiskey Cocktail tips from Hamish Fyfe the Business Manager for Dark Spirits at Dan Murphy’s.
Hamish’s top 5 Whisky cocktail tips
When making a cocktail using good quality whisky it’s also important to ensure the other ingredients are of equal quality. That means fresh juices, quality bitters and premium mixers
To avoid undesirable odours getting into the ice you use for shaking or sipping your drink, leave a box of baking soda in your freezer.
As a general rule, stir or muddle cocktails that contain all spirits and shake cocktails that have dairy, juices or egg whites (unless specified otherwise)
Keep your whisky at room temperature but your lower proof liqueurs, vermouths and sugar syrup in the fridge
You can keep you lemon and lime juices stored for longer than orange juice. Bottle, seal and refrigerate lemon and lime juices but your orange juice should be freshly squeezed
