MR PORTER.COM, the award-winning global retail destination for men’s style, and BEAMS, the pioneering lifestyle retailer out of Japan, launch and present six limited edition capsule collections from a venerable and curated group of designers not readily available outside of Japan until now. They are: ALOYE; KICS DOCUMENT; MARVY JAMOKE; orSLOW; SASQUATCHFABRIX; and TEATORA. 

Each brand has created an exclusive capsule collection highlighting its signature style and aesthetic, with product ranging from traditional workwear and denim through to contemporary tailoring.

ALOYE

Founded by three graphic designers, ALOYE is characterized by its unisex cut and sew apparel. For MR PORTER, they have created a nine piece collection of long and short sleeve crew neck tees complete with the signature design features synonymous with the brand. Hero pieces from the capsule collection include the navy jersey t-shirt with oversized polka dot chest pocket and panel and the grey tonal cut and sew long sleeve crew neck.

 

KICS DOCUMENT

The core values of Kics Document lie in their dedication to Japanese craftsmanship. The six piece collection draws upon these values, utilising traditional Japanese apparel making skills and design techniques to deliver impeccable quality and construction. The capsule, comprising of cotton shirting, relies on quality and age-old craftsmanship to update the classic oxford button-down style.

MARVY JAMOKE

Marvy Jamoke, literally translated as ‘nice bad guy,’ clearly embrace juxtaposition as a theme throughout their nine piece MR PORTER capsule. Classic cuts and silhouettes are given a 21^st century reboot, both in the application of alternative fabrics such as the grosgrain placket detailing in the button-down oxford shirt and in the contemporary tailoring techniques, including slim cut suit jackets teamed with cuffed trousers.

orSLOW

orSLOW is the work of a self-confessed compulsive clothes hoarder. Not completely satisfied with his comprehensive workwear collection, Mr Ichiro Nakutsu decided to set about creating something entirely new and orSLOW has since gained cult status in Japan. A primarily denim-led collection, the six piece exclusive capsule focuses on their brand ethos of creating quality, durable garments that stand the test of time, incorporating modern patchwork and rip repair distressing techniques for a collection that is both current and steeped in Japanese tradition.

SASQUATCHFABRIX

SASQUATCHFABRIX strives to establish an aesthetic inspired by current social conditions and urban renewal, and the nine piece offering for MR PORTER achieves exactly that with provocative prints and streetwear takes on customary Japanese styles. Their ‘firework’ print is prevalent throughout and stands out in the oversized jersey tees and overdyed short sleeve shirt with matching shorts. A hero piece in the collection is the souvenir coach jacket, complete with traditional gold embroidery, the epitome of classic/contemporary fusion.

TEATORA

Teatora pride themselves on creating products that are built to enhance creative performance and optimise the modern man’s lifestyle. With travel at the heart of their design philosophy, each piece in the six strong collection is practical yet sophisticated in their design. The packable blazers in technical nylon construction and easy roll one-day tees encapsulate their no-nonsense approach to function and style.
