With an unbeatable position on Glenmore Road, in the heart of Paddington’s fashionable retail destination The Intersection, The Village Inn colonial style pub is destined to become the local’s chosen watering hole as it opens its doors today.
The Village Inn is the latest venue from bar identity Leeroy Petersen, who last year opened the Print Room, an elegant, laid-back, wine and cocktail lounge located upstairs. The building’s location, dubbed ‘Paddington Village’ in the past, has a rich history. Created in the early 1840s and comprising of Gipps, Prospect and Shadforth Streets, this was the earliest concentrated residential and commercial settlement in Paddington, and became a bustling mecca in the years that followed.
Petersen said, “When I purchased the site in 2013, my dream was to reclaim the heritage of Paddington Village by opening some cool new venues, but still retaining that old world charm. We have created an inviting space where discerning Paddo drinkers and diners can settle in and get comfortable.”
The heritage building has undergone a complete refurbishment, with an elegant fit out evoking old world charm by leading interiors specialists Alexander & Co. It is a beautiful site reinvigorated with exposed brick, wall tiling, leather banquettes, solid wooden floors and a hand wrought communal bar all gently glowing from the warmth of hammered glass wall lights.
The menu is sure to satiate your appetite, with a range of ‘morsels’, light meals such as cured salmon with smoked baby potatoes or the meat tasting plate or a selection of ‘Burwiches’, including the signature Koby Burger, named after Leeroy’s son. There are four, healthy salads on the menu as well as the ‘Usual Suspects’ – all the favourites you’d expect a great pub to offer such as beer-battered fish, braised lamb shank and rump steak.
Joining Petersen is a talented bunch of industry heavyweights including Head Chef, Noel Phear (Macleay Street Bistro) and Bar Manager, Sean Bosman (Okku).
The Village Inn is located at 9-11 Glenmore Road, Paddington NSW 2021 and is open for lunch and dinner 12pm until late.
