THE HISTORY
Since its inception in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 has continued to be a foundational muse for future generations of Nike footwear. With performance innovation for basketball built into its DNA, the AF1 remains at the center of sport style, worn and favoured by celebrities like Cristiano Ronaldo, Mark Wahlberg and A$AP Rocky.

Earlier this year, a new challenge was posed to the Nike Sportswear footwear design team for the spring season: how do you increase the comfort and wearability of the Nike Air Force 1 Mid? On the “heels” of the Nike Air Force 1 Ultra Flyknit, the lightest Air Force 1 ever made, designers focused on improving ease of entry to modernize the Air Force 1 and how it’s worn today.
The resulting solution?
The Nike Air Force 1 UltraForce Mid with a breathable bootie and reflective pull tabs on the extended tongue and back. Never has a shoe been easier to take on and off!
For lightness, comfort and a 1:1 fit, the shoe has breathable plush mesh, soft leather, an ultralight midsole and a deconstructed heel and midfoot. To provide stability through the ankle and preserve the iconic mid silhouette, designers also constructed an all-new cage.
