I had the pleasure yesterday of pursuing threw the brand new DIOR Men’s Pop Up Store in Sydney’s CBD, showcasing The Summer 2019 capsule collection by Kim Jones and open to public next week for three months.
The star guest on this new journey, the Bee – an original House icon – has been revisited by the New York artist KAWS and appears in XXL versions in this ephemeral setting. Another made-over code acting as a decorative element is the Dior signature, also reinterpreted by KAWS.
The scenography of these spaces evokes the set of the Summer 2019 men’s show, Kim Jones’s first collection for Dior. Structures with graphic lines reminiscent of architectural scaffolding lend an informal and refined touch. Neon whites, raw concrete and the logo reworked by the New York artist KAWS respond to the new urbanity of the Dior man as defined by Kim Jones. A giant BFF figure reigns regally in the center of space.
The Dior men’s Sydney pop-up store will be open from 24th January to 31st March, 2019 and will offer ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories from the Summer 2019 collection.
67 Castlereagh St, Sydney.
