Fashion was back on the Australian runway last night at the Melbourne Fashion Festival (MFF) Gala Runway, presented by David Jones. Friends of David Jones Victoria Lee, Cameron Stephens and Tom Derickx were joined on the runway by special guests The Inspired Unemployed as well as emerging talent Bella Thomas to open the 2021 Melbourne Fashion Festival (MFF), marking the Festival’s 25th anniversary and the welcome return of live fashion events.

Featuring the best of Australian and International designers, the latest seasonal womenswear trends will be highlighted on the runway including elevated knitted sets, voluminous dresses, cut outs and coats in
softened tones such as burnt red, chocolate brown and rich olive green. Aje, Bec & Bridge, Morrison, Carla Zampatti, Bianca Spender, Dion Lee, Maticevski, Rebecca Vallance, Scanlan Theodore and Kitx are just some of the brands that will appear on the runway for MFF.
For men, this season provides an opportunity to dress up again and wear more polished looks as part of an everyday wardrobe. Smart and casual worlds collide bringing tailoring and denim together. Menswear brands featuring on the runway include Alexander McQueen, All Saints, Calibre, Eleventy, Paul Smith, Politix and Theory.
The Gala Runway, presented by David Jones also applaud Australia’s best emerging talent, featuring 2021 National Designer Award winner, COMMAS who will make a debut Festival appearance.

The Gala Runway, presented by David Jones featured two runway shows, that commenced at 7.00pm and 8:30pm on Thursday 11 March 2021. Fashion lovers were be able to tune in virtually nationwide to
watch this year’s event gaining an access all areas view from the comfort of their homes. Over 90% of the looks featured on the runway will be shoppable on the night directly from at davidjones.com and
Instagram Shop.
Celebrations continue in David Jones’ Bourke St Mall store, with a ‘Weekend of Fashion’ on Friday 12and Saturday 13 of March including a Virtual Reality Runway screening where customers take a front row seat to view all the action from Thursday night’s runway via VR headsets in-store. Other ‘In the Moment’ activities include Fine Line Tattoo’s, a Postcard Station, Gift Carts surprising customers with flowers and chocolates. A Pop-Up exhibition of the COMMAS collection will also feature in the Bourke St
window.
