Celebrate the last week of Pride Month in style with Nike’s 2019 BETRUE collection, each piece in the collection features the original rainbow flag design, celebrating the LGBTQIA community and paying homage to activist Gibert Baker.
Nike has released the 2019 BETRUE collection, created in partnership with the Gilbert Baker Estate in support of its shared vision of a more inclusive culture.
The 2019 BETRUE collection pays homage to activist Gilbert Baker and his iconic rainbow flag design that 40 years later remains a worldwide symbol for the LGBTQIA community. For the first time, the footwear, apparel and accessories all feature the icon’s original eight-colour flag.
A nod to the fact that Baker handmade everything he designed, Nike designers gave each shoe a hand-crafted effect by embroidering symbols including the eight-layer Swoosh on the Nike Air Max 90 BETRUE and the rainbow flag on the Tailwind 79.
In addition, every shoe’s right sockliner will have the Pride flag’s eight colours with each colour’s meaning, while every shoe’s left sockliner will be pink and have Baker’s signature.
