Body Mind Life Launches Luxe new Kirrawee Wellness Space

Leading Australian yoga and reformer Pilates studio BodyMindLife has gone South with the launch of a brand new, purpose-built sanctuary in The Shire.

The expansive, light-filled space in South Village, Kirrawee, is the latest expansion for the wellness brand, which has four studios in Surry Hills, Potts Point, Redfern and Bondi Beach.

It’s a return home for investment banker turned yogi Philip Goodwin who founded BodyMindLife in 2003 and spent his first few years in the neighbourhood.

“I was born in The Shire and there’s a feeling of coming home. This studio has been a labour of love and I think it’s our best yet,” Goodwin says.

Goodwin discovered first-hand the transformative effects of a yoga, meditation and Pilates practice while trading in the financial markets and left his career to help others on their own journey towards inner and outer wellness.

The new studio offers more than 75 yoga, reformer Pilates and meditation classes each week, and a far-infrared sauna in a luxurious, tranquil setting.

Goodwin’s architect partner Ferique Beach-Brown is behind the design. Using sacred geometry, floor-to-ceiling windows and a soft palette of warm timber floors, polished concrete and white walls there’s a sense of calm and spaciousness as soon as you walk through the doors.

The duo have also created a yogi lounge with herbal tea, purified water and nooks to curl up in before or after class, and a retail space with gear from the likes of Nimble, Alo Yoga, First Base and BodyMindLife’s own collection. Bathrooms feature organic wash products and rain showers, too.

“We want the community to come together here and to feel like they can stay as long as they like,” Goodwin says.

“Spending time in the studio is like a step back in time – when we weren’t running around with a smartphone on us all the time. Yoga, meditation and Pilates are a way to balance out the deadlines, commitments and modern lives we lead, and tune back into ourselves.

“The practice is a path to better health, discovering what you want from life, and understanding what really makes you happy.”

In the two yoga rooms, the studio has installed infrared heating panels and an air purification system to give students an immune boost and release toxins while they practice.

There are classes for all levels with dynamic Vinyasa flow for more advanced students as well as options for beginners to learn the basics, slow and mindful Yin classes, prenatal and postnatal yoga, and Parents and Bubs options where parents can bring little ones aged six weeks to ten months.

The Pilates space comes equipped with brand new, state-of-the-art reformer machines and Goodwin has sought a line-up of expert teachers from around Sydney to lead classes.

Unlimited yoga and meditation memberships start at $37.50 a week, and reformer Pilates at $55, with access to both yoga and reformer Pilates for $60. Goodwin says the studio will start hosting workshops, events and teacher training soon, too.
