Try The Grid at Virgin Active

It’s been a while since I’ve gotten up early to hit the gym, recently I’ve been more a 10am pre-food workout at home then a gym session in the afternoon. I digress since they asked ever so nicely I decided to get up and go and try the new The Grid class at the Virgin Active Gym on Pitt St, but I made sure I didn’t go alone and took Andrew Smythe from @TradieFit [ Instagram ]

What Is The Grid?

Drawing on the principals of High Intensity Interval Training, The Grid offers four tough training programs to choose from which draw on the six primal movements your body was built to perform – push, pull, squat, lunge, bend and twist.

At just 30 minutes long, the workouts have been carefully planned to improve fitness levels, burn calories, deliver all over body conditioning and help you to achieve your body and fitness aspirations in the shortest possible time. If you give The Grid your best shot, you can expect to blast up to 500 calories in one sitting, which would take twice as long to burn in a Zumba class.

The Grid is a multi-sensory experience performed on a training floor set out in 2x2m Grid squares. The classes are set to pumping music to support your ability to dig deep, and use a huge variety of equipment such as free weights, kettle bells, Bulgarian bags and battle ropes, as well as a range of body weight exercises.

My Review

If you’re like me and you don’t have a lot of time during the day, then The Grid is for you allowing you to get a full body workout and burn the calories needed for weight loss and or for fitness endurance. It is jam packed with exercises guaranteed to put your body through a gruelling and satisfying workout, and with the mix of exercises you are guaranteed never to get bored. You can set your own pace and work at your own level, as you attend each class you can figure out your progress. I’m heading back soon to attend The Grid again because I’m on a mission to lose about 20kgs, and I want to see if I can better the level I got to in my first class maybe I’ll see you there.
