SAFO Designs #FromStudioToStore

Sarah Fordham is a Paddington/Sydney based artist whose work explores colour across a wide range of forms, through her work she explores the places she has lived in and travelled to. Amidst the images of bridges and birds, mountains and deer – is the signature vivid colour palette that is distinctively hers.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Sydney, Sarah’s art is an extension of her passion, talent and paintings, Fordham has had a long held dream to expand her practice from art into design.

“I always wondered what my imagery might look like on subjects other than canvas. I began to visualize these paintings on “things”. I am a keen observer of interior design trends and instinctively knew that there was a place in the market for original surface design – beyond the generic chevron stripe or polka-dot,” explains Fordham.

Fast forward several years of experimentation, 2017 sees the launch of SAFO, the artist’s new design label. Merging imagery from her paintings with products, Fordham’s work can now be seen on soft furnishings and accessories.

What started in the studio as canvas paintings, is now available in stores as cushions, scarves and tote bags – all of which are easily recognizable for their bold and energetic colour scheme – a must have for lovers of fresh art and design.

Fordham explains “I am passionate about keeping my production local but am excited to share my work with those beyond our shores also. I have a big vision for this home-brewed label!”
