Last week Louis Vuitton launched the  LV2 – ‘Louis Vuitton squared’ – a standalone collaboration between men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh and DJ Nigo.

Louis Vuitton's Virgil Abloh Releases First Major Collab with DJ Nigo

The capsule collection encompasses ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories and features dedicated graphics and interpretations of the Louis Vuitton signatures.

Borne out of a longstanding camaraderie, Virgil Abloh invited the Japanese designer and founder of Human Made to partner on a one-off line fusing their individual approaches under the guise of LV.

Patchworking appears throughout in a meeting between the Louis Vuitton Monogram and the Damier check rendered in denim. The LV2 patchwork is repeated in bags based on classic Louis Vuitton shapes: the tote, the keepall, and the money bag, adorned with animal charms familiar to the world of Nigo.

Staying true to the Maison’s iconic codes, the two designers have fused their individual approaches to style, revisiting the entire product range from leather goods to ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories. While the shape of the iconic bags – Keepall, backpacks, cross-body and weekend styles – remains unchanged, the designers have reinvented them, incorporating the key emblems of their collaboration such as a new Monogram pattern superimposed over the Damier checks.

The “LV Made” duck is the symbol of this collaboration, a re-interpretation of the world of Nigo and his “Human Made” signature, transformed in LV style.
