Recently I wrote a column for cool new magazine Renegade Collective on High end Musical Instruments, and since then I’m constantly on the hunt for the latest and best sound systems. So I was rather pleased when I was approached to try out the new Logitech UE Boom speaker [ http://www.ultimateears.com/en-au/boom ]. I immediately jumped at the opportunity.
Reading the write up I was intrigued about a few things one was to see how portable it was, two was to find out if the sound was any good which for me was really important and three to how good the blue tooth system was.
Receiving the package in the mail I was like a little kid at Christmas hahah, as a stylist I always appreciate great packaging and the UE Boom portable speaker didn’t disappoint. Yet style aside the important thing the packaging did, was protect the UE Boom system from any damage when travelling. Loved the colour and it was so easy to set up for use, turn it on and link it through bluetooth to whatever device you want to play your music from. It was so easy I thought I was either missing something or, maybe just maybe the UE Boom would blow my mind.
Well, blow my mind it did lets talk aesthetics first, small light and just so cool. I received a blue UE Boom with white and yellow accents, great colour blocking and very on trend !
It’s so light and so portable it could be popped into a gym bag for some outdoor training, picnic basket for a little outdoor get together with friends or girls you could even pop it into your handbag to take to the office. Even better is the fact that the UE Boom skin is both water and stain resistant, so if you get a bit excited and splash your drink on it just wipe it down. I’ve got to say that it definitely makes music social, no wires, easily set up and connected to your phone, laptop or whatever you use to listen to music.
So it’s portable and looks good, how about sound? Well, lets start with turning it on, the power button is easily found on the very top of the UE Boom and when it runs out of battery power, it’s as easy as plugging in the usb chord and charging it back up. Though considering it has a 15 hour battery life, there’ll be a lot of music enjoyed before you’ll need to charge it. Blue tooth connection was so easy, I turned bluetooth on my phone on and it picked up the UE Boom device. I accepted it and as easy as that it was linked.
Being the performer that I am I couldn’t help but play one of my own tracks, the sound coming out was outstanding. This little speaker created an amazingly balanced sound, loud and powerful with a 360 degree reach. To test the bluetooth I left the speaker on and wondered outside my apartment building, played my track again and was amazed to hear it playing from my first floor apartment.
Over the weekend I tested it, using it in the bathroom to warm up my vocals before heading to a gig. Took it to my hill runs and used it to play some motivational hill running music haha, took it with me on Sunday whilst I did some Street Style shooting. It fit right in everywhere I went, this cool new gadget with so much power and punch. When I was told that the UE Boom made Music more Social, I was a tad baffled at how it was meant to make music more social? After spending a weekend with it, I realised what that statement meant! It was easy to use, extremely portable, great sound and looked cool! Umm of course it made Music more Social lol!
Though like I always say, don’t just take my word for it try it out yourself. Pick your own colours, listen to the sound the UE Boom produces and feel how light and portable it is.
