Sydney’s finest gathered last night to celebrate the opening of ABODE, the city’s newest bistro and bar located on the fringe of Darling Harbour and the CBD. Offering a relaxed and inviting all-day dining venue set in an invigorating multi-spaced interior, guests were drawn to the striking Florence Broadhurst wallpaper and bold carpets from Catherine Martin.
Throughout the night guests were treated to freshly prepared cocktails with a ‘his’ and ‘hers’ style cocktail on offer. The expertise of the bar team saw the ladies savouring the sweet flavours of ‘Berry Welcome’, a cocktail with gin, seasonal berries and a twist of pomegranate and guava juice, while the gentlemen were treated to a vodka infused ‘Captain Oscar’ cocktail with a touch of lime and mint.
The new bistro focuses on seasonal produce and last night guests enjoyed a taste of what is to come with seared scallops with citrus gel and apple salsa, sesame crusted yellow fin tuna with wasabi aioli and flying fish roe. Also on offer Wagyu sliders severed with house made cheddar and mustard aioli as well as mouth-watering butternut pumpkin risotto with pumpkin seed and basil oil. All canapés were beautifully paired with craft beer and specialty wines including Tar & Roses Tempranillo, Mt Riley sauvignon blanc and Peroni Leggera.
“We are thrilled to be opening a bistro and bar that welcomes people to gather in a place that feels like home, with a sports bar to catch the latest game, a dining room for relishing delicious meals or a comfy lounge area to enjoy a glass of wine amongst friends. ABODE is a place that people can gather in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, no matter what time of the day” comments Christian Rasmus, Director of Restaurants, Bars and Events.
The event was an elegant affair, offering a delicious selection from Head Chef Ryan Hong’s specially designed menu, matched with an array of wine, craft beer and delectable his-and-hers cocktails.
